Summer swim season is right around the corner! We are happy to announce that John Gullickson will be our new Head
Coach. John brings a lot of enthusiasm for swimming and a lot of experience as a teacher, and as a coach for both
high school league as well as summer league. Assistant Head Coach Katie Casey will be returning for the 2011
season. Katie has experience with being a swimmer on the OKM Osprey Swim Team, as a year round club swimmer, as
well as being a coach for OKM for a few years. Our new Assistant Coach Isabella Troncoso is no stranger to OKM.
In addition to life guarding, Isabella has been a swimmer on the OKM team. She has experience as a year round club
swimmer, and she is certified as a USA Swim Coach. We are also happy to have enthusiastic Developmental Coaches Jane Kernan, Jordan Parry, and Andrew Crandall. We look forward to having a fantastic summer!
Swim team registrations will both be $105 per athlete, with a $5.00 discount for bonded members. You will be able
to order team suits, spirit wear and other gear at the pool the first week of swim practice (following Memorial Day).
And finally, we are retaining the $150 volunteer fee this year but you will be able to earn your credits through
both swim and dive events.
OKM will compete in Division 13, along with Springboard, Daventry, Hiddenbrook, Rolling Hills and Rutherford.
As usual, "A" meets will be held on Saturday mornings, and developmental "B" meets will be held on Monday
evenings. This year we are excited to host the Division 13 Relay Carnival at OKM on Wednesday July 13, 2011.
This will be an excellent occasion to put our best foot forward and show what a great pool we have! We look
forward to another season of Pep Rallies, Theme Meets, a team trip to Kings Dominion and plenty of family
social activities to provide lots of fun for all swimmers and their families.

Mini Ospreys Registration Now Open!
The Mini Ospreys Swim Team program is now open for 2011 registration.
The Minis will be lead this year by OKM Assistant Head Coach Katie Casey, who has been with the Ospreys since
she was 8 years old and is a favorite with our younger swimmers. Mini Ospreys will practice Monday through
Friday at 10:30 am with small coach to swimmer ratio. Our focus is on children who are swimming on their own and
want to participate in the full team but are not yet ready because of their age or endurance level. The best
candidate for Minis is a child who is at least 4 years old and can swim on their front or back 5 or more meters.
They can participate independently in a group practice setting and desire to improve their swimming skills enough
to complete a 25 meter swim unassisted. Our goal is to have a group of swimmers who will be able to compete in a
25 meter race in a Developmental meet (Monday night B meets) by the end of the season and possibly move up to the
full team in the following year.
This is not a learn-to-swim program. If you are unsure if your child is ready for the Minis, contact Robyn Troncoso
to arrange for an evaluation by a coach prior to the first practice on June 27. Minis coaches will evaluate all
swimmers for placement in groups of like ability. Registration forms can be downloaded by clicking on the Minis
